Festivals

For us, travelling is about meeting different people; sharing moments with local people who have different cultures, rituals and ideals. Marked by religion and many ancient traditions, Nepalese culture is hugely diverse, we at Altaï Nepal are committed to helping you discover this vibrant intriguing world. The Teraï plains, the Sherpa villages, the Ilam terraces, and the kingdoms of Dolpo and Mustang are all regions with strong traditions. Throughout the year, many festivals take place in the Himalayan nation, to bring you closer to the local culture, we have designed several trips which share the main focus of discovering true Nepalese culture and hospitality.
Amongst the most renowned celebrations are Holi (the festival of colors), Dashain (the most important festival of Nepal), Tihar (festivals of brothers and sisters; of lights; but also of cow, dog, crow…), Losar (the Tibetan New Year), Naya Varsha (Nepal’s New Year), and the festival of Tiji at Mustang... We offer trips built around these celebrations and invite you to share festive moments with Nepali families, after all, festivals are all about sharing joy and happiness…
